A little bit of my life

I started dabbling with computers at an early age. My first computer was a TK 2000 where I experienced first contact with programming languages using Basic. After that I’ve messed my way around computer hardware from the first PC XT to the latest Intel PC. Before Internet become mainstream I played with some BBSs and since then, my passion for everything digital had only grown stronger.

It always had been very easy for me to learn things by myself, specially languages: I’m fluent in English, Brazilian, Portuguese and Spanish. But, like any other ordinary computer nerd, I had a profound lack of social abilities. I could easily read a Javascript book and memorized all basic functions necessary to use the language in just one day but I wouldn’t know how behave properly in a social gathering.

When it came my time to go to college I’ve decided to try to improve my weaker side by pursuing an advertising and marketing degree. With subjects like art, philosophy and sociology I was certain that I would expand my personal skills. It was during this years that I’ve learned a whole new set of skills from design to business administration. Guess what? It worked!

After graduating, I had a wide portfolio of computer, design, marketing and personal skills which could take me into many different sectors of business. It was by that time that, together with two other colleagues, I founded PO4, an advertising agency in which I was able to put all my experiences into practice. During four years I’ve grown PO4 from scratch to a business with big regional clients like Market Place Shopping Center, Ultrafarma and multinationals like Discovery Channel. Working with these clients gave me the opportunity to develop my computer skills towards the graphic and web design.

After four years working at full speed at PO4, everything it was going great but I was still felling that I had something missing in my life. I was born and raised in Sao Paulo – Brazil, but I come from a family of Portuguese immigrants – by the way, Reinaldo is my Portuguese name – and I have many other relatives from Italy and Spain. All that background influence always made me want to live in Europe.

In order to put that in practice I took an important decision. I’ve sold my share of the business to my business partners and decided to move to UK. I’ve choose London, which is the most cosmopolitan city of Europe, where I certainly would be able to integrate in a multicultural society. I arrived in UK in September 2008 and started pursuing a career on the Internet by going freelance for businesses and individuals all over the world.

I believe that one of the most significant things that any individual can do with its own life is to pursuit a permanent self-improvement. Every step that I took in my life had made me a more skillful, mature and confident individual. I hope that I can do my share by using all that I’ve learned helping to create useful and beautiful things.
